We have all probably heard by now that our smartphones carry more bacteria than a toilet bowl, so you probably think you need to go all out cleaning and disinfecting your phone during this pandemic. Well, as good idea it is to clean your cell phone, you might not need to go crazy over it.

Generally speaking, you should typically clean your phone every so often.

But if you’re a doctor or nurse or someone who is probably coming into contact with coronavirus patients, then yes, it’s probably best that you disinfect your phone every day just to be safe. If you are someone who hasn’t left their home, or the most you have done is go for a walk down the street, you probably don’t need to go crazy disinfecting your device every day.

You might be wondering how you can clean your phone without damaging it. Well, the best way to do that is to use Clorox disinfectant wipes or just soap and water and a soft microfiber cloth. You must be careful when cleaning though. You want to avoid getting the cleaning liquid into any of the ports on the phone, and if you choose to just use water and soap, be sure to use a soft cloth to avoid scratching the device.

The same goes for cleaning your device’s cases. Since the case is probably silicone or plastic, you will want to be gentle to avoid damaging the case.
