You might have noticed that Tim Hortons doesn’t have their Roll Up the Rim cups out like they usually do this time of year.
Well, I regret to inform you that the famous Roll Up the Rim at Timmy Hos isn’t happening this year.
Apparently, the coffee company has given away too many free items due to their loyalty rewards program that launched in April 2019. The company has since lost about $150 million and can’t afford to do the Roll Up the Rim this year. Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly if or when it will return.
In the meantime, the chain is making changes to their rewards program which will go into effect later this month. Members will receive 10 points per purchase, and 70 points will still equal a free coffee, but you will have the choice to save your points up for a bigger item like a sandwich.
These changes will probably come as a shock to most, as it is hard to believe the Canadian coffee chain could be losing money, especially when they have recently expanded internationally.
Last year it was announced that Tim Hortons had opened a location in Shanghai, China, and plan to open about 1,500 more stores across china in the next 10 years, so it is a pretty big project.
