With the whole world urged to stay home and self-isolate, it comes with no surprise that music and entertainment groups are cancelling live shows to help lower the spread of COVID-19.

With the last-minute cancellations, postponements, and rescheduled concerts, Ticketmaster was previously offering refunds to the customers for their tickets, but recently they changed their refund policy to slow down refund demands.

The new policy now states that refunds will be given if the show has been cancelled, but if it is postponed or rescheduled, you are out of luck.

There is a loophole to this; If the event organizer offers refunds for postponed or rescheduled events, then Ticketmaster will provide a refund.

Ticketmaster responded to the backlash by stating that that has always been the rule, they just clarified the rule in their policy.

Ticketmaster is not the only ticket holder that is changing their policies due to struggling with the high demand for refunds. StubHub recently changed their refund policy as well, stating that “if the event is postponed, ticket buyers can choose to either attend the event on a new date or to resell the ticket.”
